Rock Your Socks Day on 21st March is a celebration of inclusion, encouraging people to wear bright, bold and mismatched socks to raise awareness and show support for people with learning disabilities. It is a simple but powerful way to start conversations, challenge perceptions and champion individuality.
Mencap is a leading UK charity supporting people with learning disabilities, their families and carers to live fulfilling lives. Through personalised, person centred support ranging from 24 hour care to hourly assistance, alongside campaigning for rights, inclusion and better services, Mencap works to ensure people with a learning disability are valued, heard and included in every part of society.

Their work spans a wide range of vital services and activities. Mencap supports people to live as independently as possible, whether in their own homes or within managed supported living services. They provide practical support and advice through a dedicated Learning Disability Helpline, offering guidance and reassurance to individuals and families. Through campaigning and advocacy, Mencap fights to reduce discrimination and secure equal opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
Community engagement is also central to their mission. Through local network partnered groups and programmes, people are given opportunities to take part in social activities, develop new skills and access employment pathways. Mencap also offers specialist guidance on housing, education, wills and trusts, and managing money, helping families plan confidently for the future.
Last year, Mencap invited members of their Developing Together Group, a group of colleagues who all have a learning disability, and participants from their Me Time community programmes to design socks for the Rock Your Socks fundraising campaign.

One of the winning designs, Embrace the Diversity, was created by William Kettle, a Lived Experience Advisor at Mencap.
Additional winning designs came from Me Time Islington’s art club. Me Time services provide community led social inclusion and leisure programmes, giving people with a learning disability opportunities to develop skills, confidence and connections through activities such as art, cooking, music and sport. Marina, a dedicated volunteer, and Paulo, who supports members of the group, are sharing how creative initiatives like this help people feel more confident and part of their community.
Through creative projects like this, individuals are given a platform to express themselves, build confidence and feel part of something bigger within their local community.

This Rock Your Socks Day, we are proud to collaborate with Mencap to help raise awareness and celebrate inclusion. As part of this partnership, we will be donating from sales across the wider Miss Sparrow collection, helping to turn everyday purchases into meaningful support. Alongside this, we have introduced a limited edition Mencap sock collection, with just 100 pairs available per design. From every sale of every Mencap‑designed sock, Sock Snob will donate 21% of the retail price to Royal Mencap Society, a registered charity (no. 222377) in England & Wales.
